Short Bio
I have extensive experience in higher education, having served as Assistant Institutional Research Director at the University of Houston-Downtown, Director of Analytics and Decision Support at Houston Community College, and Senior Analyst in the Lone Star College System’s Office of Analytics and Institutional Reporting. I am currently a Data Analytics Adjunct Professor at Lone Star College – University Park, where I am deeply committed to supporting students and enhancing their learning outcomes. My expertise includes data architecture, reporting, predictive analytics, learning analytics, and the design of BI strategies and dashboards—empowering colleagues and students through evidence-based decision making and analytics training.
Alongside my academic roles, I am founder and principal consultant of Llorance Data Science Consulting (LDSC), where I provide teaching, training, and implementation services in analytics. LDSC specializes in business data analytics solutions, including storytelling and visualization using Tableau and Power BI, primarily focused on higher education measures.
My corporate and consulting experience significantly enriches my role as a professor by providing real-life insights and practical knowledge I share with my students. I began my IT career as a team lead at McDonnell Douglas on space station projects, focusing on data modeling, database design, and development. Later, I served as Business Intelligence Technical Manager at Oracle, where I implemented and supported enterprise BI systems, managed development teams, prepared technical documentation, and led user training. Additionally, I have consulted for other firms delivering business intelligence solutions for financial and HR analytics.
This diverse background in higher education, corporate IT, and my own consulting business enables me to bridge theory with practical applications. Whether empowering students, advising clients, or leading teams, my work is focused on building data-informed solutions that drive success.
